Grand Teton National Park Wedding Locations

wedding ceremony spots

Schwabacher Landing might be the most iconic ceremony spot in the Tetons! Those mountain reflections in the Snake River are unreal. Can be busy at sunrise due to its popularity, but it’s hard to find a prettier backdrop anywhere.

Max Group Size: 25
Permit Fee: $200
Dates of Vehicle Access: Generally Mid/Late May - End of October

Schwabacher Landing

Colter Bay is such a peaceful spot tucked along Jackson Lake! It’s easy to access and perfect if you want a relaxed, lakeside ceremony with the Tetons reflecting in the water. There’s plenty of space nearby for photos, and to spread out along the shoreline.

Max Group Size: 40
Permit Fee: $200
Dates of Vehicle Access: Generally Mid/Late May - End of October

Colter Bay Swim Beach

If you love the idea of rustic barns with the Tetons rising behind them, this is your spot. Mormon Row gives off that timeless, Western vibe. It’s an easily accessible location that is so pretty in every season!

This one’s a bit underrated and my personal favorite! Mountain View Turnout offers an incredible, wide angle view of the Tetons without as many crowds. It’s perfect for couples wanting a more up close view of the Tetons with very easy accessibility!

Permit Fee: $200
Dates of Vehicle Access: Generally Mid/Late May - End of October

Mountain View Turnout

Glacier View Turnout gives you exactly what the name promises, a huge, panoramic view of the entire Teton range. It’s super easy to access and ideal for ceremonies at sunset when the light hits the peaks perfectly. It is located on the main road, so something to consider!

Max Group Size: 25
Permit Fee: $200
Dates of Vehicle Access: Generally Mid/Late May - End of October

Glacier View Turnout

Such a pretty view of the Tetons here at this spot! There is a wall at this ceremony site that does affect the overall aesthetics! So something to keep in mind!

Max Group Size: 25
Permit Fee: $200
Dates of Vehicle Access: Generally Mid/Late May - End of October

Snake River Overlook

If you want a ceremony spot that feels open and quiet, Potholes Turnout is a great pick. It offers an incredibly more zoomed out Teton backdrop and usually fewer people around than the main overlooks.

Dates of Vehicle Access: Generally Mid/Late May - End of October

Potholes Turnout

This location gets its name for a reason, it’s right in front of the Cathedral Group peaks, which makes for one of the most dramatic views in the park! Honestly a personal favorite and you are able to get more privacy while walking down the trail!

Max Group Size: 12
Permit Fee: $200
Dates of Vehicle Access: Generally Mid/Late May - End of October

Cathedral Group Turnout

Mount Moran Turnout gives you a slightly different view of the range! It’s a calm, easy to access spot that feels a little more tucked away from the main tourist pullouts. Also there are generally lots of flowers here in the early summer!

Max Group Size: 12
Permit Fee: $200
Dates of Vehicle Access: Generally Mid/Late May - End of October

Mount Moran Turnout

Oxbow Bend is a dream spot if you want water, reflections, and mountains as your ceremony backgrounds! It’s especially beautiful in the early morning light when Mount Moran reflects  on the river. It’s also a favorite for wildlife sightings!

A stunning lake location that you can get married at in the Tetons! Does require a decently easy 3.8 mile hike to the lake. It is busy during the peak hours of the park. Highly recommend a weekday and going at sunrise or sunset at this location!

Permit Fee: $200
Dates of Vehicle Access: Generally Mid/Late May - End of October

Additional Ceremony Spots in the Tetons

Here are some additional spots that you can hold your ceremony in and around the tetons! All of these are not permitted through the national park and have their own permit process! Check them out for more info!

Permit, Planning, & Logistics for your Tetons Wedding

Planning a wedding or elopement in Grand Teton National Park takes a little bit of coordination, but it’s 100% worth it and your wedding photos are going to be everything!!

The first step is getting your wedding permit, the park requires a Special Use Permit for any ceremony, no matter how small or even if you are already “legally” married. You’ll apply directly through the National Park Service website, and it’s best to submit it asap since popular dates fill up fast. The permit costs around $200 and allows you to choose from a list of designated ceremony sites shown above!
When it comes to logistics, think simple and flexible! Weather can change fast in the Tetons, and park crowds vary depending on the season and time of day. Sunrise or sunset ceremonies are usually best for both light and privacy.

You’ll also want to factor in drive times between locations, since the park is bigger than it looks on a map. And don’t forget about parking limits, noise rules (no amplified music), and Leave No Trace principles. All super important for keeping the park as beautiful as it is now and it’s such a privilege to get married in the tetons! If you’re feeling overwhelmed, don’t worry! This is where having an experienced Tetons elopement photographer (hi, that’s me!) It really helps! I guide my couples through picking the right spot, getting permits squared away, and building a timeline for your unique day!

Tips for Eloping in the Tetons

Helpful tips

Honestly this is the only way to go! Choosing a weekday makes it easier to get permits, have less crowds, book accommodations, and you’ll have a unique anniversary date!

Picking a date without doing research might be the biggest mistake couples make! The season is a lot shorter in the mountains! Which means that warmer weather comes a little later on! I highly recommend choosing a date from the end of May through early October for the best weather in the park.

These sell out fast! I help all my couples with the permit process so if this seems overwhelming I got you!
