If you’ve been daydreaming about an intimate mountain elopement, 3m Curve in Rocky Mountain National Park is seriously worth considering. The views are insane and it is honestly one of the most quiet spots in the park! A true hidden gem!

Sunrise is Magic Here!
We started our morning at sunrise, and honestly? I highly recommend it! The park can get busy and it is a pull off area. So getting there early means you’ll have the trail and area mostly to yourself and the light is unreal.
Pro tip for a 3m Curve elopement: aim to get there right at sunrise. It does take the light a minute to come over the mountains, and you don’t want to start reading your vows when it’s too dark out! Trust me, it makes a huge difference.
Vows at 3m Curve
First thing first from Max and Emilie, it was time to read vows at the Curve. There’s something about standing there with mountains all around you, it makes everything feel so intimate! A truly stunning location to read your vows!
If you’re wondering how to elope at 3m Curve, keep it simple. Minimal setup, short vows, and just being present with each other is all you need.

Forest Photos After the Curve
Once the vows were done, we wandered into a nearby forest for some photos. One of my favorite spots that I love to share with clients! It’s super easy and accessible to get to and just a short drive away from the 3m curve! It gives you variety without having to travel far.
How to Elope in Rocky Mountain National Park
If you’re serious about a Rocky Mountain elopement, here are some things to know:
- Permits are required for ceremonies: RMNP requires a Special Use Permit for any wedding or elopement ceremony. This includes any time you are reading vows. You can apply online through the National Park Service website. The cost is $300.
- Timing matters: Sunrise is ideal for privacy and light. If you’re planning later in the day, crowds can show up fast especially in summer. Also RMNP is notorious for summer thunderstorms rolling in as the afternoon hits (especially at higher elevations)!
- Size limits: The park limits ceremonies to a certain number of people. For most spots, keeping your wedding party small (or just the two of you) is the easiest way to stay compliant and enjoy the space.
- Parking & logistics: Some popular trailheads fill up quickly. Plan to arrive early, and consider using a shuttle or ride if you’re nervous about parking.
- Leave no trace: This one’s huge. RMNP is all about preserving the park so be mindful of where you stand, what you bring, and pack out everything you bring in. Leave no trace.
Quick Tips for a Smooth 3m Curve Elopement
- Beat the crowds: sunrise or early morning is your best friend. Also, I highly recommend getting married on a weekday!
- Hire a photographer who knows the park: a photographer familiar with RMNP will know all the best spots and help make your dream day come to life!
